Information on Domestic Violence laws and resources - in nine languages

The Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia has developed information to provide newcomers and immigrants with information about Nova Scotia Domestic Violence laws and resources.

Home should be a safe place. Too often it isn't. When domestic violence hits home, women and their children need information and support. If the woman is a newcomer or immigrant to Canada she may face additional barriers to accessing information.

With financial support from the Province of Nova Scotia, LISNS the two brochures, a poster and bookmark provide newcomers and immigrants with basic information about Nova Scotia's domestic violence laws and resources available to help women and their children.

The information is available in Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Nepalese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, French and English.

You can view the brochures on-line at www.legalinfo.org/i-have-a-legal-question/newcomers-to-canada/ where you will also find other information about the law which LISNS developed with newcomers in mind.
